Lake Worth Scouting Report

Lake Worth is 0-1 on the season after losing to a private school located in East Texas, Brooke Hill, in their season opener. Lake Worth started 0-3 last season only to win the next eight games and play two rounds deep in the playoffs. Lake Worth plays a physical brand of football and has the players to do it. This will be a great challenge for our football team.

Lake Worth uses several formations on offense but they usually have two backs in the backfield and like to play smash mouth power football. Their quarterback # 9, Montana Chitty is 6”1, 225 pounds and runs like a full back. He also has a very strong arm and a couple of fast receivers as targets. They use multiple running backs and they all have good speed and quickness. Lake Worth has good size on the offensive line and they do a good job of blocking. They like to drive the ball and control the clock but they also have some big play threats with their running backs and specifically # 4 Chris Alexander, a receiver, has great speed and the ability to score on every play.

Lake Worth is a 3-3 stack team on defense. They return eight defensive starters from last year. The defense is anchored by #55, senior, Trevor Gardner. He is 6’1”, 225 pounds and is a very physical football player. They have good size across the front and great speed in the secondary. They have not shown to blitz a lot this year but did a lot of blitzing against us last year. This will be a good test for our offensive line. Their secondary has great speed so we must run great routes and our quarterback must account for their speed. They have the ability to cover a lot of ground in a hurry.

Sanger is 1-0 on the season after a convincing 38-6 win over Wichita Falls Hirschi  to open the season. Sanger started slow and made a few mistakes but once the Indians got on track they scored 38 unanswered points on the way to a convincing victory. This is the home opener for the Indians and they want to build on the positives from last week while eliminating the early mistakes. This should be a great high school football game.

Indians start the season Saturday

The Sanger Indians will play Frisco Lone Star on Saturday in the first scrimmage of the year. Our guys are very excited to hit someone other than each other and to see how we match up against another school. Our guys have battled through two very hot weeks of practice and are ready to get their reward by going up against their first opponent. Come out and cheer for the Indians!

Thanks,

Coach G

Welcome to the 2010 Football Season

Welcome to the 2010 Football Season. This is always an exciting time of year for football fans across the State of Texas. We are certainly excited about the 2010 edition of the Sanger Indian Football Team. Our kids have worked extremely hard to prepare themselves for a great football season. There have also been many others including the Sanger Football Booster Club, parents, fans, the school administration, many of our local merchants and the community as a whole that have already shown a ton of support for our football program leading up to this season. We want to thank everyone for the support they have given and will continue to give this year.

Our players worked tirelessly during the winter, spring and summer in preparation for this season. Our Linemen won their second consecutive State Linemen’s Challenge Championship this summer. Our skill kids placed second in the Prosper Tournament which qualified them for the state competition at College Station. Our kids, along with many parents and fans traveled to College Station and competed very well against some of the best programs in the state. Our record was 5-1 and we made it into the final eight loosing to Cameron who ended up in the final game. This was a great experience for our team!

These players have earned the right to wear the Purple and Gold and are prepared to have a great season. Our kids will once again play in a very tough 9-3A football district but we think us being in the district will certainly be a big reason why the district is so tough. We have adopted a couple of slogans for the 2010 Season that we’ll hang our hat on. S.W.A.T.-Sanger Wins as A Team & “WE BELIEVE”   We know that if we work together as a team meaning our players, coaches, parents, administration, teachers, students and community as a whole and “WE ALL BELIEVE”  in each other and pull in the same direction WE will accomplish great things this year!

Thanks for your support,

Chuck Galbreath
